In a surprising crossover event that defies traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "A mysterious confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of prohibited rituals and fearsome transformations resonate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a hidden cult.

The questline concentrates on "strange experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Transformations

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Material

Players who finish the quest will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Addition

This update also brings the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Crossovers

This represents scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series previously included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
